Information about volunteering opportunities

Cheltenham Little League is built on the dedication of our volunteers. Parents, family members, and community supporters play a vital role in creating a safe, fun, and meaningful baseball and softball experience for our players. Whether you're coaching, helping at the snack stand, or serving in an administrative role, your time and effort directly impact the success of our league.

We welcome all levels of involvement - from those who can volunteer just a few hours during the season to those who wish to take on a larger role in shaping the league's future.

See the following positions below for more details:

Team Manager: Oversees practices, games, and team activities, as well as manage communication with parents and the league officials, ensuring adherence to rules, and fostering a positive team environment.

Assistant Coach: Helps the manager with coaching the team, running practices, and managing games. Assist with skill instruction, teach sportsmanship, and ensure the team adheres to league rules. The assistant coach also helps with field maintenance, player skill development, and may manage the team in the absence of the manager.

Team Parent: Primarily involve supporting the manager and assistant coach by handling administrative tasks and ensuring smooth communication and organization. This includes tasks like coordinating snack stand schedules, managing communication, arranging team gatherings, and assisting with team events. Essentially, the team parent helps the manager and assistant coach to focus on coaching by handling the logistics and administrative aspects of the team.

Board Member: A vital part of Little League's leadership team. Board Members oversee the operations of the league and help guide its mission of providing a positive baseball and softball experience for all players. Responsibilities may include:

  • Attending monthly board meetings to discuss league planning and decision-making.

  • Helping to set policies, budgets, and goals for the league.

  • Supporting fundraising, sponsorship, and community outreach efforts.

  • Assisting with player registration, team formation, scheduling, and events.

  • Ensuring compliance with Little League International rules and safety standards.

  • Providing guidance and support to coaches, volunteers, and families.

Board Members are elected positions, typically serving one-year terms, and require a commitment to both planning and hands-on involvement during the season. Serving on the board is a meaningful way to make a lasting impact on the players, families, and community.
