Pennsylvania State Law: requires that adults (18 years old and older) volunteers who will have a role in supervising children to obtain criminal background and child abuse clearances. The law states that an adult having direct volunteer contact with children will need these certifications. Direct volunteer contact with children is defined by Pennsylvania law as the care, supervision, guidance, or control of children and routine interaction with children under the Child Protective Services Law. All certifications are good for five (5) years.
This will apply to all Cheltenham Little League Team Managers, Assistant Coaches, and Team Parents.
Snack Stand volunteers are not required to complete background checks and clearances.
Little League: As a condition of service to the league, all managers, coaches, and any other persons, volunteers or hired workers, who provide regular service to the league and/or have repetitive access to, or contact with players or teams, pursuant to the Little League Child Protection Program

1. Submit a Little League Official Volunteer Application to the local league.
2. Complete an annual background screening through the required J.D. Palatine (JDP) process.
3. Complete the Little league Abuse Awareness Training.

In order to be eligible to serve as a volunteer for any league, the above requirements must be completed prior to the applicant assuming his/her duties for the current season. See

Failure of a volunteer to complete any of the above requirements will result in the ineligibility for that individual to volunteer, until the above requirements are complete.
