Remembering Ron Camp

Ronald P. Camp, age 71, Of Cheltenham, PA and Ocean City, NJ passed away on July 6, 2025, after complications from surgery.

Beloved husband of 46 years to Kathleen Fitzgerald-Camp, loving father to Gwen, Peter, Brian and Colin. Cherished brother of Fred (Susan), Frank (Deb), Rita Brody (Tom), Jim (Michelle Rue), Joe (Donna), and Rob (Caroline). Predeceased by him much missed and extremely funny brother Chuck (the late Sharon) and his parents Fred and Rita (Bednarek) Camp. Also survived by his wonderful cousins Theresa Gottschalk (Bob) and Rosemarie Rosengarten (Steve).

He was blessed with many wonderful, smart, kind, gorgeous nieces and nephews, and his Fitzgerald in-laws, Jim, Pat (Bill Workman), Kevin (Janice) and Susan (Ed Preston), Ron was very proud that he gave Susan the nickname "Chip". Ron had a very large extended family of adored Camp cousins with whom he had a great time growing up in Philadelphia and the surrounding area.

He was an ardent Philadelphia Eagles fan (Go Birds!), and rarely missed watching a Phillies, Flyers or Sixers game.

Ron was an active member of the Cheltenham community. He was the president of Cheltenham Little League for fifteen years, was on the Pastoral Council of Presentation BVM Church, served as a eucharistic minister, coordinated golf outings for many nonprofits, helped run fundraisers for the Semper Fi Foundation and ran both the lottery and the Christmas tree sale to benefit Presentation Church and School.

Ron had a very long career, working at Sears, Bell Atlantic, Verizon and Comcast as a systems analyst/engineer. He was quick to pick up new technology and helped people use it, and his friends and neighbors often called him their favorite "IT guy" with lots of questions.

Ron died the day before his 46th wedding anniversary, and his happiest times were spent with Kathleen and their four children. He loved time with his siblings and their kids, his extended family, on a golf course with his brothers and friends, on a boat or on the beach in OCNJ.

Visitation will be held on Friday evening, July 11th from 6:00 to 8:00pm at Wackerman Funeral Home 8060 Verree Road, Philadelphia, PA 19111.

Visitation also on Saturday morning, July 12th at Presentation BVM Church, Old Soliders Road in Cheltenham from 11:00 to 11:45am with a Celebration of Life Mass at noon.
